Welcome

Congratulations on joining the Team at the Holiday Inn Express Grand Canyon – a great place to Live & Work.

We are already preparing for your arrival and will assist you with travel coordination and orientation to your new home at the Grand Canyon.

Welcome Aboard!

  • You will receive a welcome email from our Housing Director, Alberto Avina and he will start coordinating your arrival with you.  alberto@gcanyon.com
  • The hotel is located one mile from the South Entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park in the community of Tusayan approximately 75 miles (120 km) west of Flagstaff, Arizona
  • As soon as your travel plans are set, please contact Alberto to coordinate a possible pick up at the Flagstaff airport, train depot, or bus station.
  • If you are travelling to Flagstaff and have confirmed arrangements with Alberto, he will pick you up and take you to a store so that you have the opportunity to buy some basic supplies before leaving Flagstaff.
  • Traveling to Tusayan on your own?  When you arrive at the hotel ask the Front Desk to contact Alberto.  He will get you checked into housing and will assist you in completing your employment paperwork.
  • The next day will likely be your first day at work and you will meet your manager there as well as the rest of your team.
  • Flagstaff is the nearest town to the hotel that has air, train, and bus service.
  • American Airlines is the only airline that flies into Flagstaff AZ which is approximately 75 miles (120 km) from the Grand Canyon.  If you need to use a different airline to get to Phoenix AZ you can connect to an American Airlines flight from Phoenix (PHX) to Flagstaff (FLG) OR you can book a ground shuttle at www.arizonashuttle.com from Phoenix to Flagstaff.
  • If you have prearranged your plans with Alberto, he will meet you in Flagstaff to bring you the rest of the way to the hotel.
  • If you are arranging your own travel you can use Arizona Shuttle to complete your trip from Flagstaff to the hotel.
  • Alberto will take you to the hotel on your first day and introduce you to your manager.
  • We will also schedule an orientation session with you soon after you arrive to answer any questions you have.
  • 2 weeks after you start work you will need to go with Alberto to Flagstaff to the Social Security office if you do not already have a social security card.
  • Typically, every two weeks Alberto will take a group of employees to Flagstaff for shopping to buy groceries and other items.
  • Employee Housing is a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
  • Housing is very affordable, and the cost will be payroll deducted for your convenience.
  • Housing is supplied with basic living needs – cooking supplies, utensils, dishware, linens, bedding, and furniture.
  • There are typically 3 people per bedroom in a 2-bedroom townhouse.  Some of the beds are bunk beds.
  • There is a full bathroom near the bedrooms and a small bathroom near the kitchen.
  • Housing includes free WIFI and basic satellite TV.  TVs are included in the living area.
  • Days off are a great time to explore and experience the area in and around the Grand Canyon. We can’t guarantee you having the same days off as your friends, however if you need time off to travel you will need to submit it in writing a week in advance to your manager. This is a request, however we will do our best to honor it as we understand you’d like to travel and get to know our surrounding areas.
